For practitioners of all levels, a mindful steady approach...

Enjoy being in your body with yoga each day for 3 days in a row. Our practice will be: grounding, settling and suitable for practitioners of all levels. We’ll take a mindful, steady approach while focusing on breath and kindness towards ourselves. The class sequences will be specifically designed to counter common imbalances that can occur in our mind and body during the season of Autumn.

In Autumn our energy can easily be dissipated in many different directions. If we don’t make the time to intentionally transition: from day to night, from season to season, we’re more likely to get off track. We’ll find ourselves: overeating, over drinking and over extending in an effort to find comfort and contentment. Don’t do that. Instead – slow down and pause – then move forward with graceful intention.

Your enjoyment of life is determined by your wellbeing. Your mind-body care will determine your success. ​Over the ​weekend ​you will​​ learn, ​apply ​and take home ​5 simple habits that will bring vibrancy and radiance to your overall wellbeing.

Practical Wisdom...

Most adults need to take time to pause between their day and their evening. Yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda, teaches us to sync our inner environment with our external environment. On retreat you’ll learn how to bring your vibrancy up in the morning. You’ll learn how to bring your energy down so you can let go in the evening. You’ll be able to bring this wisdom home with you.

Nourishing, seasonal ingredients sourced locally...

Nutrients transform, heal and nourish us. You can look forward to meals prepared with high quality, seasonal foods. Many of the ingredients will be sourced from Talus Rock Retreat’s own garden or from local organic farms. Fresh sourdough bread risen with wild yeasts and hearty vegetable soup are just a couple of the offerings that will add fuel to your fire. The meals will be chosen to nourish the common imbalances of the season. We also aim to accommodate specific dietary needs.

18 acres of private wilderness...

We’re tucked away on 18 acres of private wilderness with a panoramic view of the Cabinet Mountains. You never know what you might spot out the huge panoramic windows; perhaps a moose and her twins swimming across the acre-wide pond, a great blue heron fishing for his dinner, or a family of deer grazing in the meadow. The environment, both in and outdoors, lends itself naturally to a sense of healing and reprieve. All of this wilderness playground is only only one mile from downtown Sandpoint and five minutes from the base of Schweitzer Mountain Resort!

Reconnect to the natural world...

In Yoga and Ayurveda we see that we are not separate from anything but rather, fully connected to all that we do and the world around us. Our external environment feeds us. When we take time to remember that we are actually part of nature we can take the edge off of our busy lives.

We’ll spend intentional time outside just to absorb the beauty. There will be options for strolls and walks interspersed throughout your stay. For those who are interested, there are nearby hiking trails. Reconnect to the natural world that supports you everyday.

Meet Your Presenter and Guide, Sarah Rusnak

A bit about Sarah...

I am a yoga teacher, mother and self-care evangelist. Yoga has been my dear friend for over 20 years. I’ve trained extensively with master teacher Ana Forrest and have been sharing the wisdom of yoga with others since 2006. I am committed to studying the human body, how we take in nutrients and let go of the old.

I’ve dedicated a large portion of my life to studying and sharing the principles of everyday wellness as a massage therapist, a professional cook, a yoga instructor and a yoga health coach. I deeply believe that personal health education is an avenue for living our fullest and most impactful lives. I’ve been helping others invest in their wellness education for over 15 years.

Yoga and Ayurveda have taught me that everything my body comes into contact with on a daily basis will impact how I show up in my life and relationships; this understanding has been paramount in my personal satisfaction. It is my aim to generously offer what I learn to our community in a down-to-earth way.
