This immersion is ideal for those who are ready to create healthy changes in their lives from the inside out. Stepping outside of our daily routines and environments gives us the opportunity to reset our body as well as our mind. This allows us to bring into focus what we truly want most in our lives. Today, let’s start today.
We’re tucked away on 18 acres of private wilderness with a panoramic view of the Cabinet Mountains. You never know what you might spot out the huge panoramic windows; perhaps a moose and her twins swimming across the acre-wide pond, a great blue heron fishing for his dinner, or a family of deer grazing in the meadow. The environment, both in and outdoors, lends itself naturally to a sense of healing and reprieve. All of this wilderness playground is only one mile from downtown Sandpoint and five minutes from the base of Schweitzer Mountain Resort!
In Yoga and Ayurveda we see that we are not separate from anything but rather, fully connected to all that we do and the world around us. Our external environment feeds us. When we take time to remember that we are actually part of nature we can take the edge off of our busy lives.
We’ll spend intentional time outside just to absorb the beauty. There will be options for strolls and walks interspersed throughout your stay. For those who are interested, there are nearby hiking trails. Reconnect to the natural world that supports you everyday.
In Spring there’s a natural sense of heaviness as a result of the long nights, cold temperatures and heavier foods. Along with that heaviness, we also have a grounded strength; the way to counter the heaviness it to use the strength. Our yoga classes will be geared to help your body “shake off the winter heavy” and the learning curriculum will teach you how to take the principles and practices home with you.
While out of your usual environment, you’ll have a wonderful schedule set up for you that includes nourishing food, time for rest and reflection, as well as a luxurious dose of mindful movement. This is the beauty of retreat.
We also want you to leave with tools that will help you to build more health and resiliency in your life. At this retreat you’ll learn some incredibly useful tips for how to create healthful habits that stick. Yoga and Ayurveda have a wealth of knowledge about how to respond to the needs of your physiology on a daily basis; when you do that, quality of life goes up and dis-ease is reduced. We’re excited to share this practical self-care wisdom with you.
Cozy up to the big stone fireplace in the Great Room or by the outside fire pit. Take a soak in the hot tub under the stars, then sleep like a king or queen in your luxurious, well-appointed room. (Rooms with jacuzzi tubs are available.) Both the Great Room and downstairs Nooma Room have large, sweeping windows with spectacular views of the pond, forest, and stunning Cabinet Mountains.
*Room rates are discounted for this special retreat. Please call 208-255-8458 for the most up-to-date pricing.
**Extended Stay Special: Receive 50% off regular room rate for any consecutive nights before and after the retreat.
Nutrients transform, heal and nourish us. You can look forward to meals prepared with high quality, seasonal foods. Many of the ingredients will be sourced from Talus Rock Retreat’s own garden or from local organic farms. The meals will be chosen to nourish the common imbalances of the season. We also aim to accommodate specific dietary needs.
We offer massages, manicures and pedicures as upgrades. Treat yourself to a pampering session without leaving your room, or enjoy an outdoor relaxing treatment on the deck or outside grounds, or experience an indulgence in the Tower with a sliver view of Lake Pend Oreille!
Enjoy the ten person hot tub on the deck under the stars. Two person jetted tubs are provided in select rooms.

I am a yoga teacher, mother and self-care evangelist. Yoga has been my dear friend for over 20 years. I’ve trained extensively with master teacher Ana Forrest and have been sharing the wisdom of yoga with others since 2006. I am committed to studying the human body, how we take in nutrients and let go of the old.
I’ve dedicated a large portion of my life to studying and sharing the principles of everyday wellness as a massage therapist, a professional cook, a yoga instructor and a yoga health coach. I deeply believe that personal health education is an avenue for living our fullest and most impactful lives. I’ve been helping others invest in their wellness education for over 15 years.
Yoga and Ayurveda have taught me that everything my body comes into contact with on a daily basis will impact how I show up in my life and relationships; this understanding has been paramount in my personal satisfaction. It is my aim to generously offer what I learn to our community in a down-to-earth way.
“This weekend will give you a quality experience and education in the art of yoga and mind-body care, which are lifetime processes that continually unfold and evolve. I love offering inspiration, support and encouragement that help you to forge a new course towards the way of living you most desire. I aim to meet you where you’re at; we start from there. Along the way we’ll have some fun; cheers to a joyful, radiant life! ” -Sarah Rusnak
